About This Event
Join Open Sangat, a reading circle focused on global stories and marginalized voices, for a discussion pairing Banu Mushtaq's International Booker-winning collection Heart Lamp with Tara June Winch's Miles Franklin Award-winning novel The Yield. The conversation will explore women and girls in Muslim communities in southern India, Wiradjuri language and identity, colonialism, family, land, and community. Attendees may come having read one book, both, or only part of either, and will also help choose the group's November selection. This first meetup will take place in a shared common area of the organizer's apartment building; exact address, entry, and parking details will be shared with RSVPs in the event chat.
