Wynkoop Brewing Company is the first brew pub in historic downtown Denver since Prohibition. Located in a historic building in LoDo, Wynkoop offers freshly brewed on-site beer and hearty pub fare, live comedy in the basement, and a BCA-sanctioned billiards parlor upstairs. It is a long-standing local favorite; former Governor John Hickenlooper brewed and served the first pint here in 1988. The venue operates as a full-service restaurant and brewery with lunch and dinner service, a full bar, entertainment, guided brewery tours, and extensive event space for private and group functions. Green practices include recycling, composting, the use of biodegradable service ware and cups, and donating spent grain from brewing to local farmers for animal feed. Wynkoop can accommodate a wide range of group events, including happy hour gatherings, dinners, lunches, beer tastings, brewery tours, and more. The restaurant is locally owned, offers outdoor dining, takeout, and multiple private and semi-private rooms. Meeting and event facilities total approximately 20,000 square feet, with multiple configurable rooms such as the Mercantile Room, Morey and Brown Rooms, Pool Hall, Private Dining Room, Sun Deck, and options for full buyout of the venue. Capacities range from small private dinners of about 20 guests to receptions for up to 1,000 guests. Regular hours of operation for the restaurant and bar are 11:00–02:00, with lunch served 11:00–17:00 and dinner 17:00–22:00. As a brewpub and bar, the venue features TVs for watching sports, including football games, and hosts live comedy in the basement. The upstairs billiards parlor is BCA-sanctioned and provides a pool hall environment for groups and casual visitors alike. Wynkoop is Denver 5 Star Certified and is accessible, with an accessible main dining room and facilities suitable for a variety of events such as receptions, banquets, meetings, tradeshows, and expos. On-site catering is provided in-house. The brewery is a short walk (approximately 0.9 miles) from the Colorado Convention Center and about 23 miles from the airport. Sample guest feedback from recent reviews highlights the atmosphere, vegetarian and non-alcoholic options, family-friendly holiday brunches, and the lively environment during downtown events like the Stock Show parade and sports game nights.
