Civic Center SPARKLES is the Civic Center Conservancy’s horticulture volunteer program created to help maintain Civic Center Park’s stunning flower and produce beds, ensuring the park stays green and beautiful. Since 2021, SPARKLES has provided weekly care where community members can contribute to a vibrant, accessible urban oasis for all to enjoy. During Civic Center Park renovations, SPARKLES will continue volunteerism efforts with horticulture support for Denver Parks & Recreation in various parks around downtown, including Speer Blvd Trapezoid annual flower beds, Gates Crescent Park, Fishback Park, City of Cuernavaca Park, Commons Park, Denver Skatepark, and Centennial Gardens Park. Horticulture care activities typically include planting flowers, mulching, debris clean up, native bed care, and weeding. For 2026, Civic Center Conservancy is partnering with Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) to provide two public volunteering days. One of these days is on July 7 at Gates Crescent Natural Area. Registration for 2026 volunteering opportunities will begin in early May and sign‑ups will be managed via VOC’s website (link coming soon on the VOC site).
