Novo Ita (meaning “The New Way”) is Spectra Art Space’s recurring immersive summer installation, described as a “solarpunk” world that’s the opposite of a bleak, post‑apocalyptic setting. Instead, it imagines a future where a dramatic change to the world leads people to become more sustainable and better to each other. The experience is a labyrinthine indoor/outdoor art environment with quirky artwork ranging from miniatures and sculptural structures to high‑tech displays and interactive elements. QR codes launch apps that help tell the story, and there are surprises in nearly every nook and cranny. Novo Ita evolves from year to year, incorporating work from previous incarnations as part of an ongoing narrative, and is one of two major immersive shows produced by Spectra Art Space. The installation typically runs through the summer until about September, when it gives way to the Halloween‑season Spookadelia immersive.
