Denver Colfax Marathon

About This Event

The Denver Colfax Marathon Weekend is the largest marathon weekend in the Rocky Mountain Region and Denver's only marathon. For its 20th year, the event features "WOW at Every Mile"—with local musicians, artisans, drumlines, choirs, and other entertainers providing an energy boost at every mile of the course. The weekend includes a two-day Cigna Denver Colfax Marathon Expo at Empower Field at Mile High on Friday and Saturday; the 5K Kickoff on Saturday, May 16, 2026; and the main race day on Sunday, May 17, 2026. Sunday’s events include the full Marathon (a Boston Qualifier that passes through Empower Field at Mile High twice, runs along waterways, and even through a Denver fire station before a large post-race party), the Half Marathon (including a new Denver Zoo mile with on-course animal views and running by Denver landmarks such as VooDoo Doughnut, the State Capitol, and Denver Fire Station #1), the Urban 10 Miler (a point-to-point race along the marathon course from RMCAD to City Park with an included RTD ticket back to the start), and the Marathon Relay (Open, Corporate, Government, and Public School Teachers divisions). The weekend culminates in a big finish festival in City Park with live music, food, and drinks. The event also emphasizes charitable giving, with relay divisions supporting local nonprofits and an average of about $150,000 awarded annually to charities in recent years.
